Top 4 most haunted places of Goa ...

The spookiest places in Goa

Goa is much more than just beaches, clubs, shacks, coffee houses, night markets, churches and those uber-quaint Portuguese houses. Much more if you know of these haunted places in Goa. The lush green of Goa might just turn a tad darker if you visit these supposedly spooky places; places that sound quite alluring if you wish to see a very different side of India's most loved tourist destination.

Borim Bridge

Multiple reportings of strange apparitions on the Borim Bridge in Goa has made it one of the most haunted places in the region. People have reportedly seen a woman jumping down the river while driving on the bridge. A few of them, who stopped their vehicle for help, found her sitting in the backseat once they returned to the vehicle! Nobody dares to cross the bridge after midnight owing to a number of passer bys reporting the same incident over the years. Almost everyone who has seen the "ghost lady" has reportedly fallen sick after such a rendezvous,

Three King Church
A haunted church might sound like an oxymoron but holds true if you believe in the story that surrounds the Three King Church in Goa. According to a legend, this church saw the killing of two kings by a rival king who wanted the entire kingdom to himself. He poisoned himself shortly after murdering the two kings in the wake of public outcry; the church is haunted by the spirits of the three kings ever since then. Locals and visitors to the church have reported hearing strange noises and "a strange, ominous presence" in and around the church. While the church precincts make for a perfect sunset point, most of the crowd disperses by late noon because of the horror tales that are associated with it.

Saligao
If you think folklore is passe, try horrorlore. The word holds true for Saliao village in Goa; a village that is reportedly haunted by the ghost of a lady named Christalina. As per the lore, she was seen by a church's bishop who was crossing the village. He fainted on seeing the strange apparition and woke up next day screaming her name..

While more than 50 years have passed since this incident was reported, not many dare to cross the banyan tree (the supposed home of Christalina's ghost) at night. While the tree sees some curious tourists in daytime, sunset brings in a definite silence to the site

NH 17
Famously known as the Mumbai-Goa Highway, this national highway is known for much more than the scenic drive that it offers. A horror tale with a twist, this one comes with a condition that restricts transporting any non-vegetarian food via the highway after the sun sets. Locals believe that a stretch of the road is haunted by hungry witches and ghosts who would chase you if you carry the same. People have reported their vehicles getting stalled or out of control when they tried carrying non-vegetarian food across the stretch! Time to meet some hungry ghosts perhaps.Add more to this list with the said spooky road in Baytakhol and Janki Bandh (bridge) for a complete list of haunted places in Goa. This is for the ones looking for an adventure of a different sort at a place that enjoys an enviable reputation of being a tourists' paradise. A Goa that nobody wants to talk about, a Goa that exists only in shadows or in some very creative minds.
